Description
Farm buildings with pan tiled roof and appentis, with hills climbing to the distance.
Commentary
Stylistically and compositionally this feels like B Fleming working from sketches or photographic references with a flat and clean bright palette and little impasto.
Attribution
Possibly Barbara Fleming (attribution uncertain).
The catalogue’s attribution is itself tentative; it is reproduced above and not resolved here.
Catalogue wording: “B Fleming ?”
Verso
A Fleming Contact marks to the verso in white paint.
The reverse is marked “A Fleming” in block capitals. Many boards in the collection carry this marking, and some of them are considered to be by Barbara Fleming. The marking may record ownership rather than authorship and is not treated here as evidence of attribution.
Condition
Fair. Paint lifting top centre. Some flatenning top right.
