Description
A collection of pan tiled farm buidlings, divided by a road with a low range of hills in the distance. Hangar buildings to the foreground. Likely a view of buildings in Touille in the Haute Garrone department of South West France. Painted in 1953 in an orthodox A Fleming style.
Commentary
A well balanced composition, with an orthodox, academic approach to paint application. Possibky painted in the studio from sketches. A strong influence of French real- ism, with colours from life and accomplished depiction of shadow and recession.
Attribution
Attributed to Alec Fleming.
The catalogue records a signature but qualifies it; the attribution is given as the cataloguer’s opinion.
