Description

Head and half figure of a middle aged man in glasses wearing a purple roll neck sweater and purple jacket against a green/blue background.

Commentary

The torn paper quality of the flat brushed impasto paint in the face along with the dry brush application and reserved areas of primed panel to denote the fall of light are markers of an assured hand. The mature style and subject suggest mid/late 1960s Alec Fleming.
