Description
Still life of a stemmed bowl of oranges, vase of flowers, dish of oysters and fruit.
Commentary
A commanding still life with heavy impasto and a bright fresh palette, owing no small debt to Matisse in colour. The abandonment of rigorous perspective in favour of a striking composition with bold outlines and high contrast are indicative of the French influence on Alec Fleming’s mid period mature work.

Attributed to Alec Fleming.
