Description

A woman in spectacles and a grey sweater knitting a blue garment.

Commentary

A tell tale sign of Alec Fleming’s later approach to paint handling is the use of overpainting fleshly highlights in impasto especially to hands and face, in sympathy with the later work of Lucian Freud. Possibly a portrait of Barbara Fleming in the 1970s.
