Description

Study of a woman in a black sweater with a white collar against a wall [ torso]

Commentary

A fluid portrait, most likely from life of a young woman in three quarter view- a favoured pose of A Fleming. The use of short horizontal strokes in highlighting the skin tones is characteristic of A Fleming. The use of impasto white highlights for the collar and the traces of hog’s hair brush marks are typical. Possibly 1960s/early 70s.
