Description
Two trees in lead stand behind a farm gate with a tall hill in the distance.
Commentary
Likely painted in England. In situ and alla prima. The broken line in the description of the trees and the handling of the subtle pink hues in the lower skies, suggests Alec Fleming in a later period.
Attribution
Attributed to Alec Fleming.
Given to Alec Fleming in the catalogue.
Catalogue wording: “Alec Fleming unsigned”

Verso
A Fleming in marker.
The reverse is marked “A Fleming” in block capitals. Many boards in the collection carry this marking, and some of them are considered to be by Barbara Fleming. The marking may record ownership rather than authorship and is not treated here as evidence of attribution.
