Description
Three figures in bright clothing examining two large boats raised up on blocks.
Commentary
This striking composition is very different in style for both Alec and Barbara. Very modern in style and palette, a clear example of external influences and an awareness of other painters. Flat colour treatment for the figures recalls Matisse cut paper pictures-whilst the lack of modelling draws on Pop art sensibilities. This seems to be rapidly painted probably from a photographic reference.
