Description
A grouping of four onions on a wooden chopping board.
Commentary
A rapidly painted still life grouping, most likely from life alla prima. The wet onto wet ochre highlights on the onion skins add depth and vivacity to the composition. A confident hand painting rapidly. Probably France.
